4.5* If the characters would have been less caricatural and one dimensional this would have been a 5 star book. But I really enjoyed it.
I read it because it was on the Rory Gilmore list, but this one could never have been mentioned in the series. The series ended in 2007 and this only came out in 2015. Maybe they mention the first in the series? Anyway, it was ok. I won't be picking up the others. But I am probably not really part of the aimed audience anyway.
If I had not read books like The Baker's Daughter by Sarah McCoy or Those Who Saved Us by Jenna Blum, I might have rated it higher. I did enjoy reading it, but I felt like I read it all before.
It's just impossible to read. Might try again, but not this year.
It is very beautifully written, but from the start I knew it could not end well. And that made me reluctant to keep reading. I should really rate it 4*, but I just can't stand such sadness.
I went into this without really knowing what to expect and maybe a bit hesitant. Poetry is not really my thing. I listened to the audiobook and I really enjoyed the experience. I loved the atmosphere and characters, but especially the language and rhythm. Great read.
Even though this is of course still relevant and thought provoking I did not really enjoy it. Fascinating, but not my thing.
It is a fascinating story. But it could have been an essay or article or podcast episode.
I am really not yet sure what I think. I keep it at 3*** for now.
