My daughter was like you and now loves Carl - finished the full series in a week, and I'm recommending more litrpg to her now (because there are lots of even better series in this genre ❤️)!

The more I read, the more I love Clyde! If the Good Guys annoyed you because of Montana's success, despite his bumbling, then Clyde's story will be a refreshing change.

That said, both series are great, I just have to grimace less often with this one 😍

The book as a whole was good, but the cliffhanger ending and focus on an unrelated plot in the final pages left me unfulfilled, after a mostly wonderful read.

I like the story concept, but by the middle of this book, it's all betrayal and moral morass. I read to relax, and a Song of Ice and Fire is not in my happy place. If you like dark stories, then this is for you, as it is well nuanced and well written.

It has an interesting but not unique premise, and strong LGBTQ+ representation, but this is definitely a novel for juveniles, and not young adults. I continually felt unsure of what person the story was being told in, with shifts between limited and omniscient. Transitions between scenes was often jarring, and a particularly egregious example of this marked my exit from the tale.
