a really funny book which made me actually laugh out loud a few times and an interesting story which kept me engaged to boot

“Open your eyes, concludes the man, and see what you can with them before they close forever”

Hauntingly beautiful words/sentences, every single one of them!! Addicting prose in the book with an incredible story about characters you become deeply addicted to reading about!!

“But if a man is beginning to panic, logic goes first”

Wish I could give this a 3.5+. Took about 35% of the book until I got into it but a thrilling story with spectacular sentences crammed with endless illustrative descriptions about “the right stuff” of fighter pilots that dovetailed into the start of the space program. A bit long in the tooth but I’m glad I stuck through it.

“First of all, I'm extremely optimistic and positive. Secondly, I hate to behave in clichés.”

Thorough biography of/from one of my comedic idols chronicling his life and the reasons behind the way he came to be/think. Will certainly delve into his past work with the additional appreciation of the why and the how.

“We're often accused of being overly curious, but doesn't it beat the alternative?”

A semi-interesting book that reads like a semi-humorous personal journal. Very relatable COVID chapters and overall a quick read.

“for laughs, for luck, for the unknown”

Book was just okay, semi interesting story but nothing mind blowing

“Self-awareness, in short, means being "aware of both our mood and our thoughts about that mood”

“At best, IQ contributes about 20 percent to the factors that determine life success, which leaves 80 percent to other forces. As one observer notes, "The vast majority of one's ultimate niche in society is determined by non-1Q factors, ranging from social class to luck."

SUCH a fascinating book that really opened my eyes and explained self awareness in a much brighter light. The book explains how the human brain developed and why/how our emotions came to be and tying in self-awareness into all of it. But about ~54% of the way through the book changes into child psychology which makes sense but I struggled to get through it towards the end.

“In the information age, the barriers just aren't there," he said. "The barriers are self-imposed. If you want to set off and go develop some grand new thing, you don't need millions of dollars of capitalization. You need enough pizza and Diet Coke to stick in your refrigerator, a cheap PC to work on, and the dedication to go through with it. We slept on floors. We waded across rivers.”

SUCH a fun, fast, and fascinating read! I had no idea of the history about the people behind some of the biggest computer games ever, especially some that I played as a kid.

“Repeating history that had left living memory was an all-too-human tendency”

Fun quick read with an intriguing world built up

"So, you prefer to be uncomfortable?" Mosscap said.

"Of course not," Mx. Avery said. "But I think there's such a thing as too comfortable."

Nice quick and fun sequel, easy to read with an enjoyable plot and relationship between the two main characters
