A nice addition to the dark tower saga.

One of the most underrated books of Stephen King. The way the king uses painting as the medium to explore the struggle of the human mind and supernatural elements of nature is just superb.

King's knowledge of painting shines through the book. His signature character work and slice of life is also here.

Overall excellent read.

One of the best Stephen king reads in recent time

One of the best atmospheric horror sci-fi stories.

When I revisited the story for the second time, I connected with the story much better than first time. I can connect with the dreamer who is lost to the real world and also can appreciate the monologue style of story telling. The plot is little cliche now, but it's still captures the fear of every lonely person out there.

Review of First Read - 2 Star

Too much word play. Very little actual story.

Really interesting stories. The setting, approach to plot , and character development is much different than standard horror or crime stories. In some stories I felt the ending was too open or weak but it doesn't take away too much from the stories. Growing boys is my favourite of all of them. Overall a great read.

It's a book with a very interesting premise of the two cities sharing the same physical space but having the distinct indicators to separate them. This is more of an analogy for all the countries who share the culture but are now divided because of political differences.

The writing is a little bit difficult to follow initially and has a lot of repetitive sentences which makes the book go slower than normal. After some time you will get used to the style, then it becomes easier to read.

The plot is interesting but could have been even better with tight editing. But the world building around the plot makes it much more interesting so it's a smaller issue.

Overall a great read which makes the reader think about these interesting cities and their challenges.

It's similar to Angel's game in Shadow of the wind series. Explores the dark, sinister background of a city which looks luxurious and touristy from outside. If you like horror and Mystery set in 1970s Europe city this will be a great read.

Really good book which combines celtic folklore with the 19 century detective mystery.

Commented on:

Much heavier than the usual discworld book. In this book, Terry Prachett's character work really shines. It took some time to get used to the different tone of the book, but after that it was a fun ride. Yet another great read in the discworld.
