Not sure which book of the series it was, but the toothpaste tube incident was hilarious. Cleary really nailed it when describing Ramona's adolescent attitude.
This was one of my favorite childhood books. I read it many times, imagining I had a mouse friend that rode on my bicycle and hid in my school desk. I read the Ramona books too, and even as an adult they bought a smile to my face. Beverly Cleary never talked down to her audience.
The writing wasn't engaging enough to keep my attention. Perhaps I was in over my head.
Good advice but depression is more complicated than negative thinking.
Full of senior stereotypes and British cheekiness -- likeable characters and lots of plot twists. Not great literature but an easy and enjoyable read.
A religious re-hash of Lord of the Flies. The writing, the horror, and the characters were all rather bland.
Wow. I still think about aspects of this story weeks after reading it. Motherhood is a major theme, so women may find it more disturbing. Well written, it tells a story, then stops and leaves the reader to their own conclusion.
Dark atmosphere and a real gore-fest. Enjoyed the writing but even the female characters had too much testosterone.
I had a hard time following the story. Reading the afterword explains why -- one author too many.
The best story was about Olo and his magic pop-up book.
