A profoundly sad and beautiful story. It really made me feel.
This book had some beautiful imagery and touching moments. I also disliked all of the point of view characters and any time they thought about minorities
It was good, funny, and horny, just not what I normally read.
I really enjoyed the idea of the forest, what really killed it for me was the treatment of one of the woman characters. She was only ever described from the point of view of men lusting after her, and then her death ultimately served to make a man change.

A warning to autistic readers; there is a little autistic boy as a prominent character. He is often described as unloving, and indifferent and the r slur is used to refer to him a lot. The important people to the book are kind to him, but the world and writing can be cruel
The main character fantasizes about violently r*ping and killing his coworker. It's like listening to an incel every time there is anything to do with women in the book.
The writing is horribly fat-phobic and the creature designs are racist
