Chapter Thirty: A New Chapter

Jonas stands patiently waiting, unsure what to expect, when Arlena bursts out laughing. Jonas, still confused, watches her smile happily.

“Just don’t change,” she says softly.

She moves in slowly and kisses Jonas on the lips, a kiss that lingers for a good moment. Walker claps in the background. Jonas opens his eyes and gazes into Arlena’s. They end the kiss, breathing in the moment.

“I forgot they were there,” Jonas admits.

“So did I,” Arlena responds.

They turn to Walker and Nicola, who approach them quickly.

“Congratulations,” Walker says, tapping Jonas on the shoulder. “You did great, better than I ever could.”

Nicola admires Arlena’s ring. “It’s beautiful,” she says.

“Aww, thanks,” Arlena replies, showing her the ring.

Walker smiles, “The ring itself is cut from diamond, engraved with your name underneath.”

Nicola, lost for words, finally says, “It’s absolutely stunning. One of a kind. He truly loves you.”

Arlena squeezes Jonas’s hand tightly, looking into his eyes. “I know,” she says.
