From The Publisher:

"Utterly charming . . . Put Sophie Kinsella's Number on speed dial."-USA Today

Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry her ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her "happily ever after" begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring in a hotel fire drill, but in the panic that follows, her phone is stolen. As she paces shakily around the lobby, she spots an abandoned phone in a trash can. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect!

Well, perfect except that the phone's owner, businessman Sam Roxton, doesn't agree. He wants his phone back and doesn't appreciate Poppy reading his messages and wading into his personal life.

What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other's lives through emails and text messages. As Poppy juggles wedding preparations, mysterious phone calls, and hiding her left hand from Magnus and his parents, she soon realizes that she is in for the biggest surprise of her life.

This book was exactly what I needed! No end of the world, no political angst, no murder, no supernatural beings - just a funny romance. I loved Poppy - I too have had my life spiral out of control when a good deed backfired. And I’m a sucker for books that incorporate emails and text messages. I think it’s jealousy - most of the text messages I receive are simply the letter “K.” This was a fun, fast read - I finished it in about three hours. (Sorry laundry and chores.)

***3.5***

This was cute, but it definitely strayed into absurdity, so I'm marking it as brain candy - I had fun with it as long as I made myself brush over stuff that was ludicrous (including several places where you want to shake some sense into Poppy).

Also, I deducted a full star for the end -

Poppy agreeing to go forward with the wedding when she just found out that Magnus had been a lying cheater. I'm sorry, that was her most doormat move and it was really upsetting. It set up a lovely grand gesture from Sam, which I'm sure was the point, but man it made her seem like a spineless twat.

It was fun, the text conversations were silly, and I liked seeing things move forward with Poppy and Sam. That said, I'd barely call this a romance... in fact, honestly, scrap that. I deleted the romance tag. Because it isn't. Poppy and Sam begin a connection, which is nice. And maybe it will work out for them. But this book was more about a corporate mystery and the end of a relationship, than it was about romance.

But Poppy and Sam compliment each other nicely, in terms of personality, so I have hopes they'll do well. :)
