Okay, this wasn't hot garbage, but I can't think of many positive things to say about it, so maybe room-temperature garbage. Sightly steaming. The name of the game after 50% was

heavy skimming. I had to see how the author would end this thing, so despite any finer details that might've fallen to the wayside, I think I've got a pretty good picture of the story.

My main issue is this — why did Erik and Livia fall in "love"?? I don't think they have a single thing in common aside from being dumb and horny, and none of their conversations felt real. The author really said, "Oooh, a hot pirate king and his enemy's daughter *wink wink* — NOW KITH!"

I genuinely couldn't give a crap about any of the characters introduced in this book, and the only reason it's getting two stars instead of one is that it at least entertained me for the first half after I turned off my brain a bit. If you loved this book (which the majority seem to) — fabulous. Congratulations on finding a new 5-star read. If you hated this book — welcome to the club. I really need to stop reading books I find out about on TikTok. That is where braincells go to die.
