Leigh Bardugo’s latest book “Wonder Woman: Warbringer” is something different from her other novels. First of “DC Icons” series, Wonder woman is a real delight and wonder to the reader.
“You do not enter a race to lose”
What a first line!!
Diana, is a Amazon princess, who is born on the land of Themyscira. Like other Amazon’s she is not battle tested. It irks her that her existence in Themyscira is just a chance but not an earned place. She thrives hard to be a true Amazon, like her sisters.
“We can’t help the way we’re born. We can’t help what we are, only what life we choose to make for ourselves”
Alia, a nerdy New-Yorker, always shadowed by her controlling brother, wants to do something right in her life. Orphaned at young age, she is an introvert and makes very few friends. She senses the commotion around her and wonder is her own presence responsible!
“Because people are always going to look. They’re always going to judge, so you can say nothing or you can at least answer back.”
When from a shipwreck Diana saves Alia, little did both know that their destinies are entwined forever. Diana helps to find Alia’s true nature of existence. Alia sees a sister, friend and savior in Diana. They both journey to get Alia’s bloodline cleansed.
“Sisters in battle, I am shield and blade to you. As I breathe, your enemies will know no sanctuary. While I live, your cause is mine.”
The plot is great with a kick-ass Heroine, kick-ass action and kick-ass conversations. I loved this book to hell and back. Hard to put down and Leigh Bardugo, you rock. A perfect entertainer!!
“I think I was a cat in another life, because all I want is to lie around sleeping in the world's biggest sunbeam.”
Happy Reading!!
