"Two for the Dough" by Janet Evanovich is the second installment in the Stephanie Plum series, following the bounty hunter as she tackles her second case to catch a bail skipper. The story is described as instantly forgettable, missing an opening chapter to reintroduce the characters and set up the plot, and featuring a main character who is both annoying and surrounded by frustrating, one-dimensional cast members. The comedic elements are noted to feel forced and slapstick, while the male characters lack depth.
The narrative is action-packed and colorful, narrated from Stephanie's point of view as she navigates through surprising developments in Trenton, New Jersey. is praised for its vivid descriptions of place and person, making readers remember the story in pictures akin to a comic book. The protagonist's problem-solving skills and willingness to cut corners are highlighted, presenting a unique perspective on the working-class experiences reflected in the series.

Finally found an American female narrator I can stand (C.J. CRITT). Audiobook & book are both great. She even does the men's voices well. Lorelei King (who picks up after book 5 is horrible).
