This may be 400 pages long, but it's a large font, large margins 400, so you can zip right through this baby. The series continues to lead Sydney away from her lifelong absolute commitment, no question asks attitude towards the Alchemists, who are starting to look shadier and shadier. Sydney has a very funny relationship with the world's most boring person in this book (well, he bored me) with an excellent breakup scene (this is not a spoiler if you read this book with your eyes open). I didn't love the overall focus of the plot, but I think it set up a lot of changes for the next book, and the character development among the crew was good.
And just a word about YA novels - there is a moment in this book when Sydney realizes someone else can drive to where they're going, because she is not, in fact, the only person who can do everything right and no one else should be allowed to mess shit up. I read this mini-revelation and thought Giiiiirrrrrrlll I feel you. I am far from YA but this is still relevant to my life.
