I'm a little ambivalent about where this series ended up. I think Mead did a great job of showing growth in both her main characters, Sydney and Adrian, but by the end the plot has wandered a bit. Jill is originally "hidden" on the West Coast so her sister, the queen, can work on passing legislation that will make her safe, but we're not told the status of that legislation by the end of the book. Sydney makes more progress with the Alchemists, but were the books really about that?
There is continuous action throughout the book, and it is a quick read. I like that not everything is wrapped up with a happy ending, but the characters have come to a place where they don't expect everything to be perfect. They have each other, and that is enough.
Also, a fighting swarm of Chihuahuas.
