From The Publisher:

RYAN

She's a distraction, that's what she is.

I'm the newest Captain of the Devils, Chicago's NBA team, and the last thing I needed this year was for Indy Ivers, my sister's best friend, to move into my apartment. She's messy, emotional, and way too tempting.

But when the team's General Manager vocalizes his blatant disapproval of my promotion to Captain, referring to me as an unapproachable lone wolf with no work-life balance, I can't think of a better way to convince him otherwise than pretending to date my outgoing roommate.

The only problem? Faking it feels far too natural.

Having a fake girlfriend wasn't supposed to be messy but having Indy under my roof and in my bed is complicated, especially when she wants all the romantic parts of life that I could never give her.

INDY

I never imagined I'd be living with my best friend's brother, NBA superstar Ryan Shay. Even more unbelievable? He needs me to act as his loving girlfriend who's suddenly changed him into a friendly and approachable guy.

Because, well…he's not. He's controlling of his space and untrusting of others.

Our arrangement isn't one-sided, though. I'm in a wedding coming up, one where every one of my childhood friends, including my ex-boyfriend, will be in attendance, and there's no better date than my ex's celebrity hero.

Blurred lines make it almost impossible to separate real from fake. Falling for my roommate was never part of the deal, especially when Ryan is quick to remind me that he doesn't believe in love.

I'm a romantic and can't help fantasizing that he'll change, but soon enough, I find myself questioning if sharing a roof with my best friend's brother was the right move after all

Well, this was a book, for sure. Neither terrible nor amazing,

The Right Move was a pretty middle-of-the-road read for me.

My biggest issue with this story was that I didn't care much for the characters. They weren't horrible, but I didn't feel much chemistry, and their bond felt thin at best. Their physical attraction was (in my opinion) the main driving force of their eventual romance, and as someone who enjoys extremely drawn-out slow burns, this felt somewhat shallow. I know that, generally speaking, romance leads are described as the hottest people to walk the earth. Still, Ryan and Indy's immediate and

constant ogling of their counterpart's appearance made their love story less believable. It felt almost disrespectful at a certain point.

The plot was solid enough that it kept me reading, with no major frustrations or pull-your-hair-out moments, so that was good! Aside from the romance, the side-character relationships felt pretty believable, with best friends acting like best friends and siblings acting like siblings (albeit with less teasing and annoyance than usual).

I wouldn't particularly recommend this book, but it was good enough to enjoy — with a healthy dose of skimming pages.

I had heard so many wonderful things about

The Right Move, and indeed, it was a good story, although I was expecting something even more exceptional.

This is quite a lengthy book, and there really isn't a reason for it to be so. I believe trimming it by about 150, or even 200 pages could have sped up the plot without losing its essence. However, I must admit that while reading this book, I didn't feel it dragged on excessively, nor did it feel overwhelmingly long. The pacing of the story is really good, and the author deserves credit for that. At times, I did wonder if the author wanted to cram too many dramatic events into the lives of the main characters, Indy and Ryan, but it wasn’t a problem as I was into their story.

It seems that the excessive number of pages actually allowed us to genuinely believe in the relationship between Indy and Ryan and the deep feelings that bind them. Both Indy and Ryan are well-constructed characters, displaying complexity and depth beyond their initial stereotypical roles. Ryan, initially portrayed as cold and emotionless, and Indy, suppressing her true personality to meet the expectations of her former partner, evolve as the story unfolds. It was easy for me to believe in their transformation and character development.

The undeniable chemistry between Indy and Ryan makes their relationship's story captivating and convincing. The author pretty skillfully weaves the plot, intertwining the blossoming feelings between the main characters with other challenges in their lives, which helps to form a strong connection with the characters. The intricacies of their relationship were both heartwarming and touching, and it was satisfying to witness them break free from self-imposed shells and discover their true selves.

I enjoyed this book, but honestly, I don't think I'll revisit it in the future. The characters, while well-developed, didn't leave a lasting impression on me. However, I will definitely seek out other books by this author. This book showcased her potential for crafting engaging romances with intriguing character dynamics.

All in all, this is a solid romance with a healthy dose of drama and character development. While the book could benefit from some trimming, it manages to maintain a solid pace that easily captivates readers. Fans of well-written main characters and intricate love relationships will find this book to be a satisfying read. Liz Tomforde's storytelling talent is evident, and she has the potential for even greater stories in the future.
