Who Would Like This Book:

If you love fast-paced, twisty psychological thrillers with an easy-to-read style, "The Housemaid" is right up your alley! The dual perspectives immerse you into an unsettling household full of secrets, unreliable narration, and jaw-dropping surprises. Perfect for fans of domestic suspense à la "Gone Girl" or anyone looking for an unputdownable, popcorn thriller. Short chapters and constant cliffhangers make it a great choice for busy readers or those getting back into the reading groove.

Who May Not Like This Book:

Some readers found the plot predictable, citing similarities to other thrillers like "The Last Mrs. Parrish." If you prefer deeply original storytelling, complex prose, or aren't a fan of over-the-top twists and drama, this may not feel fresh. Twisty, fun, and addictive - great for thriller fans who crave page-turners, but may leave seasoned readers wanting something more original or nuanced.

"Welcome to the family," Nina Winchester says as I shake her elegant, manicured hand. I smile politely, gazing around the marble hallway. Working here is my last chance to start fresh. I can pretend to be whoever I like. But I'll soon learn that the Winchesters' secrets are far more dangerous than my own…

Every day I clean the Winchesters' beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor.

I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew's handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it's hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina's life. The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband.

I only try on one of Nina's pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it's like. But she soon finds out… and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it's far too late.

But I reassure myself: the Winchesters don't know who I really am.

They don't know what I'm capable of…

Omggggg I gotta read the next one!!! Nina is basically contracting her out to help housewives kill their husbands?! Fucking genius. But what Andrew's mom said at the funeral got me interested. How badly did she torture him for him to become the monster he did? On to the next book!<3

WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW!!! This was my first Freida McFadden book. I went into this totally blind, and I completely see what all the hype was about. I loved how the main character Millie was depicted, especially the way her backstory was slowly revealed. The twists were absolutely out of this world, just when I thought I had my footing the book went in a totally new direction! I genuinely can't find a negative thing to say about this book. The plot was as riveting as the characters. Highly recommend!

I wasn't as much of a fan of this as I expected to be. I finished it, but I wasn't as gripped. It's a good story, just wasn't for me.
