Who Would Like This Book:
Thrill-seekers, fans of the morally gray, and those who love a dark, psychological slow burn will eat this up! The writing is saturated with atmospheric tension, vivid character work, and an off-the-charts chemistry between two deeply flawed artists. If you loved the intensity of 'You' or 'The Fall,' or if true crime podcasts and villainous heroes are your thing, Sophie Lark’s Sinners Duet will have your pulse racing. This book stands out for its intricate mind games, toxic-but-addictive love story, and the way it delves into the psychology of obsession, power, and healing through trauma.
Who May Not Like This Book:
If you shy away from graphic violence, psychological manipulation, or taboo storylines, this one may be too much! It’s unapologetically dark, with heavy triggers - please do check warnings before diving in. Some readers struggled with the justification for the characters’ choices, found the hero too cold or unlikeable, and the romance more unsettling than swoon-worthy. The writing style, playlist integrations, and unflinching amorality are polarizing, so if you’re seeking a typical, feel-good romance, this likely isn’t it.

From The Publisher:
The city of San Francisco thinks we’re rival artists.
In truth, we’re predators battling for hunting ground.
We never chased the same prey. Until the night we both laid eyes on Mara Eldritch.
Shaw wants to use her as a pawn in his twisted game.
I’m fixated on her for a different reason…
She makes me feel things I never thought I could feel.
Want things I never wanted.
Only she can make me lose control.
I don’t know if I should protect her at all costs… or destroy her before she ruins me.
I have always been fascinated by true crime, as well as by villains and anti-heroes.
A serial killer is, of course, the ultimate anti-hero — the baddest of the bad boys. Redeeming a character who starts so evil was a challenge that inspired me to entirely new heights and entirely new depths.
Come on this darkly sensual and utterly brain-bending ride with me! — Sophie

Check trigger warnings. This mmc is definitely a different kind of psychopath breed than my standard ones. Would probably have been 5 stars if it wasnt for the fact he just left her to die at the start, and the whole uh, painting action from the fmc.
In theory this would’ve been a 4⭐️ but the execution was lacking I don’t really believe in them as a couple either and the spice was not that good
such a page turner!
This was such a fascinating book from the first page. I found it really difficult in the beginning to find any likable and/or redeeming qualities about Cole. As Mara starts to crack away at his cold psyche, Cole went from a sociopathic killer to a much more vulnerable and troubled man who needs someone like Mara in his life
5⭐️
“She’s more twisted than I ever dared dream”
This book was unexpected but definitely addictive. It got me out of a huge reading slump and I could not put it down. It’s dark but it’s also really captivating, and as long as being a serial killer in his free time isn’t a major character flaw for you, you will enjoy it. Read the trigger warnings.
Dark. Like super dart. Stalking, murder, rape and sodomy. With a cat and mouse game. Well written to the point I read it, and if this was my thing, I would read the sequel, but it is too much for me.
