If you prefer tight pacing, character-driven stories, or get frustrated with high chapter counts and the occasional info dump, this might test your patience. Also, if you're looking for traditional romance or slice-of-life focus, this book is much more about powering up and throwing punches.

From The Publisher:
Ilea likes punching things. And eating.
Unfortunately, there aren't too many career options for hungry brawlers. Instead, the plan is to quit her crappy fast-food job, go to college, and become a fully functioning member of society. Essentially - a fate worse than death.
So maybe it's lucky that she wakes up one day in a strange world where a bunch of fantasy monsters are trying to kill her...?
On the bright side, 'killing those monsters right back' is now a viable career path! For she soon discovers her new home runs on a set of game-like rules that will allow her to punch things harder than in her wildest dreams. Well, maybe not her wildest dreams, but it's close.
With no quest to follow, no guide to show her the way, and no real desire to be a Hero - Ilea embarks on a journey to discover a world full of magic. Magic she can use to fight even bigger monsters.
She's struggling to survive, has no idea what will happen next, and is loving every minute of it. Except, and sometimes also, when she's poisoned and/or has set herself on fire. It's complicated.
Read the story that took Royal Road by storm with over 60 million views and counting.

This book series is just great. I blew threw books 1, 2, 3, and four in just a couple days and didn't want to stop long enough to head here to write down a review.
There are so many books in the lit rpg genre that are very shotty and not put together well, so when you find the gems like this series, it is a breathe of fresh air.
A main character who is querky, silly, and just wants to continue pushing herself to the pinical of power through fights is everything I'm looking for in my books. Book one starts us off and gets us use to the world she finds herself in, and as books continue we learn more about the darker side and everything points to an inevitable clash down the road.
With books in this genre so often the main character is made too strong and the author has to step in with some heavy handed way to set them back, but here it is done to perfection. You are not left unsatisfied, and any limitations are breaf and light to allow for the ass kicking everyone enjoys.
Just a great series and one I'd suggest anyone who likes progression fantasy or lit rpg to read.
the only negative is the production on the audio book. The ding sound the audio book narrator makes when there are too many levelups, it is sharp and loud enough to wake you up if the book is still playing after sleep. The volume also goes down during the quiet parts of the book too much and I have to adjust volume constantly. If the production was just a bbit better it would be perfect to listen to.
Strangely addicting. Not sure what happened here - I read this book on my kindle, then went to royal road to read the rest. Book 2 is now out on kindle I hear
So I read the kindle version, then moved to royalroad for the rest. Fun, easy read and exactly what I was in the mood for.
