Who May Not Like This Book:

This series isn't for the faint of heart. It features explicit violence and sexual content - sometimes crossing into territory some readers find squicky or even disturbing. The humor is often crude, the cast can be pretty two-dimensional, and a few scenes may be especially off-putting to those who aren't into raunchy comedy or who are sensitive to non-consensual or graphic scenarios. This was a series Audible suggested to me, and now I can’t trust any of Audible’s suggestions. The synopsis made me think one thing, then I found it is about a chest who is a monster who can’t even communicate for the majority of the book.

The scenes with humans were the bits I enjoyed the most. The “main character” is the most unlikeable part of this book. There is a whole bunch of nothing happening, and I don’t really know why any of it is happening, but maybe that’s the point.

I wasn’t offended by the language, it says retarted a couple times. The alleged “sexism” from the demon succubus wasn’t offensive for me like it was for some reviewers, it was just over the top and silly. The thing that got me was the lack of a plot and story, and how this starts to feel like a monster demon harem lit rpg, and that isn’t for me.

I thought this would be more silly and a parody, but it takes itself too seriously without anything really happening in the story. If I was really lost without anything to read, maybe I’d pick up book 2, but I’d have to really be hurting for a new book.

The damn audio book is sound booth theater too, and the stupid sounds they add in for no reason just detract from the reading. To the point where the narration is abruptly interrupted for chewing sounds for over a second multiple times. Less is more, but this production company loves their sounds.

Not bad. Interesting perspective as the main character is a mimic. The lewdness is a little over the top though.
