From The Publisher:

Marry Me! Cara Paulsen does not give up easily. A scientist and a single mother, she's used to fighting for what she wants, keeping a cool head, and doing whatever it takes to protect her daughter Janie. But "whatever it takes" has never before included a shotgun wedding to a dangerous-looking stranger with an attitude problem.

Or Else! Sure, the mysterious Talen says that he's there to protect Cara and Janie. He also says that he's a three-hundred-year-old vampire. Of course, the way he touches her, Cara might actually believe he's had that long to practice. . . more

Fated introduces us to Zanetti's

Dark Protectors. Talen and his four brothers are protectors of the Sanguisuga (Vampire) race. Their mates are human. When Talen finds his in Cara, a scientist specializing in plant genetics and single mother of an adorable, four-year-old, powerful psychic, he takes what he wants.

There had been a treaty between the Sanguisuga and the Kurjans following hundreds of years of war, however finding Cara and her daughter Janie has changed things. The Kurjans are once again hunting human women, Talen and his brothers will do all they can to stop them.

My first read of Zanetti's was her spin-off intro, [b:Wicked Ride|23403599|Wicked Ride (Realm Enforcers, #1)|Rebecca Zanetti|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1424310367s/23403599.jpg|42967221], so I was anxious to start at the beginning. To be honest, I found myself more interested in some of Talen's brothers, the shifters and Cara's daughter more so than Talen and Cara's "romance". I will continue with the series and look forward to learning more about Janie, the war and the other couples to come.
