Writing/Prose:

The author's style is engaging and fluid, with a balance of emotional drama and a cynical worldview.

Plot/Storyline:

The narrative primarily acts as a setup for the concluding book, with limited impactful events and character resolutions.

Settings are varied and contribute to the exploratory nature of the characters' journeys.

Pacing:

Pacing leans towards slow and steady, emphasizing setup but resulting in a lack of thrilling moments.
Connor should have pulled off the road to sleep—especially on a windy night like this. Certainly his reflexes behind the wheel would be much better in the morning, but the burning need to get himself ...

Notes:

UnSouled is the third book in the 'Unwind' series by Neal Shusterman.
The book serves as a setup for the final installment, focusing more on character development than plot advancement.
Connor and Lev embark on a long detour to find Sonia, which feels drawn out and less engaging for readers.
Starkey's violent actions raise questions about their impact on the war against unwinding, but he doesn't meet Connor and Lev in this book.
Risa's character feels stagnant and lacks significant development in this installment.
Cam becomes a more interesting character, grappling with existential questions about his identity.
The climax is hinted to involve a 3D printer that can make real body parts, which is concealed by those profiting from unwinding.
The book is criticized for having multiple perspectives that can interrupt the flow of the story.
Many readers felt that the book was a 'bridge' and lacked a strong standalone narrative.
Overall, UnSouled was considered less thrilling than the first two books but still engaging for fans of the series.

Has Romance?

There are elements of romance present, particularly involving Cam, Connor, and Risa, in a love triangle dynamic that has some development.

From The Publisher:

The story that began with Unwind continues.

Connor and Lev are on the run after the destruction of the Graveyard, the last safe haven for AWOL Unwinds. But for the first time, they're not just running away from something. This time, they're running toward answers, in the form of a woman Proactive Citizenry has tried to erase from history itself. If they can find her, and learn why the shadowy figures behind unwinding are so afraid of her, they may discover the key to bringing down unwinding forever.

Cam, the rewound boy, is plotting to take down the organization that created him. Because he knows that if he can bring Proactive Citizenry to its knees, it will show Risa how he truly feels about her. And without Risa, Cam is having trouble remembering what it feels like to be human.

With the Juvenile Authority and vindictive parts pirates hunting them, the paths of Connor, Lev, Cam, and Risa will converge explosively-and everyone will be changed.

Neal Shusterman continues the adventure that VOYA called "poignant, compelling, and ultimately terrifying."

3.5 stars. While this was still a good book this is my least favorite book so far, it just didn't contain as much suspense and exciting moments as the other books. Still enjoyed it tough
