I didn't realize this book was #4 in a series, but it worked just fine as a stand alone. I enjoyed this book about a serial killer evading custody. I would reccomend reading this even if you haven't read anything else in the series.

“Thirteen” is the fourth entry in the Eddie Flynn series by Steve Cavanagh. The novel defies definition as it is a murder mystery, a legal thriller, and a psychological drama all in one. Eddie Flynn is a criminal defense attorney whose client is Robert Solomon, a famous actor accused of murdering his wife and her lover.

The story itself has received high praise from renowned authors such as Ruth Ware, Lee Child, and Michael Connelly. Ruth Ware describes it as “a brilliant, twisty, ingeniously constructed puzzle of a book” while Lee Child calls it “outstanding” with “an intriguing premise, a tense, gripping build-up, and a spectacular climax.”

The premise of the story is certainly intriguing: the serial killer isn’t on trial, he’s on the jury. Joshua Kane has killed to get the best seat in the house and to be sure the wrong man goes down for the crime. But former conman turned criminal-defense attorney Eddie Flynn doesn’t believe his movie-star client killed two people. He suspects the real killer is closer than they think.

Overall, “Thirteen” by Steve Cavanagh is a highly recommended audiobook for fans of murder mysteries, legal thrillers, and psychological dramas. The narration by Adam Sims adds to the overall experience and the story itself is gripping and full of twists and turns. It’s no wonder that it has received such high praise from both critics and readers alike.
