Who Would Like This Book:

If you love twisty, page-turning crime thrillers and can't resist a forensics-heavy whodunit, "The Bone Collector" is a must-read. The story pairs a brilliant but bitter quadriplegic criminologist, Lincoln Rhyme, with spirited patrol cop Amelia Sachs, creating an unusual but compelling detective duo. The real draw here is the intricate, clue-laden investigation, high stakes, and the dynamic between the two leads. Fans of fast-paced plots with deep dives into forensic science (think CSI or Patricia Cornwell’s work) will be hooked. Plus, the New York City backdrop and vivid historical tidbits add extra flavor.

Who May Not Like This Book:

If you prefer cozy mysteries, minimal gore, or are easily overwhelmed by technical jargon, this might not be your cup of tea. Some readers found the forensic and procedural details a little dense, or struggled with the grim, graphic crime scenes. Others felt the characters were a bit too stereotypical, or thought the romance subplot detracted from the suspense. If you like super-realistic or character-driven stories over plot-puzzle thrillers, you might be less satisfied.

An addictive, smart, and gruesomely vivid thriller that sets a high standard for forensic crime fiction - perfect for fans of dark, detailed mysteries and clever twists.

3.5 stars. This was a very well made crime novel, it was intense and engaging and I didn't get bored at all by it. But I don't think police procedure books are always for me. It's takes a lot to be something I really like but this was good enough.
