Who Would Like This Book:
If you're into sprawling historical sagas with a dash of time travel, complex family relationships, and a cast of unforgettable characters, "Drums of Autumn" delivers all that and more. Fans of Jamie and Claire's epic love will love seeing them carve out a life in 18th-century America, while those on the hunt for adventure, rich historical detail, and multi-generational drama will be hooked. The book also introduces higher stakes as Brianna and Roger take center stage, making it a must-read for anyone captivated by Gabaldon's blend of romance, survival, and emotional twists.
Who May Not Like This Book:
Not everyone vibes with the slower pace and hefty length - some readers felt it dragged, especially in the first half. The shift in focus away from Jamie and Claire to newer characters like Brianna and Roger didn't work for everyone, with some missing the tighter, more intimate storytelling of earlier books. Additionally, the book deals with darker themes, which may be off-putting to some, and the handling of sensitive topics and period attitudes has received criticism. If you're not already invested in the series, jumping in here can feel confusing and overwhelming.

There is a lot of story in these pages. The author does a wonderful job of creating the lives of the character and moving the reader through the book. I loved all of it.

About the Author:
DIANA GABALDON is the author of the international bestselling Outlander novels and Lord John Grey series. She says that the Outlander series started by accident: 'I decided to write a novel for practice in order to learn what it took to write a novel, and to decide whether I really wanted to do it for real. I did - and here we all are trying to decide what to call books that nobody can describe, but that fortunately most people seem to enjoy.' And enjoy them they do - in their millions, all over the world. Published in 42 countries and 38 languages, in 2014 the Outlander novels were made into an acclaimed TV series starring Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser and Caitriona Balfe as Claire. The series has now been renewed for a fifth and sixth season. Diana lives with her husband and dogs in Scottsdale, Arizona.
