This was... a nice cozy way to end Feyre and Rhysand’s story. Unfortunately it was extremely tedious at times and took me about a week to get through, which is surprising because it is so short. I had trouble keeping my interest going. This is basically the story of the Fae version of Christmas-like celebration and it’s attendees. If I could suggest what would invariably be a rollicking drinking game: one shot every time someone says “my mate”.
3.5 ⭐️
2.5 ⭐️ (rounded up)
This was just kinda boring. This is essentially the christmas special episode of ACOTAR. I like the characters enough that it still held my attention but it felt unnecessary. This is the definition of “it could’ve been an email.” Why does this book exist? This should've been an epilogue in the last book.
Also the fact that Rhys is turned on by the image of his future child is kind of weird. I think I get what Maas was going for in this scene but I feel an editor should’ve caught that it was worded weirdly.
I find novellas hard to buy into, even Sandersons, so reading a worse written one that felt even more unnecessary than his was a hard sell.
This is hard to rate, so here's how I'm going to do it:
Rhys stuff - 5 stars - ❤️
Feyre and Rhys stuff - 5 stars - ❤️❤️
Lucien stuff - 2 stars - fuck that guy for acting like he has no responsibility for how things went to shit in the Spring Court, and that it was all on Feyre. He doesn't deserve her friendship.
Mor stuff - 3 stars - lots of melodrama for stuff that happened 500 years ago when I can barely remember shit that happened last week. I'd love to see Mor moving forward, because being stuck for centuries seems pathetic.
Cassian stuff - 2 stars - grow some spine and self respect, my man
Elain stuff - 1 star - holy Jesus she is exhausting and just mean for no reason. Must be a family trait.
Tamlin stuff - 5 stars for karma but holy shit that's pathetic. At least he finally seems to accept that he's responsible for how everything went to shit.
Nesta stuff - negative 50 stars - she is an exhausting, narcissistic bitch and I'm so fucking tired of Feyre bending over backwards for her. She's toxic, worse than Tamlin because she abused you since you were like 8. Fucking woman up, Feyre, and punt her off the mountain already.
So I'm generously giving this 2 stars
And this is where the series and I part ways, because I would literally rather light myself on fire than read a book about Nesta.
I’m ngl I found this really boring
A cute novella, a little un-needed but still cute. It’s like a warm and cosy read for Christmas I guess.
3.75⭐️ Out of all books this seemed pretty short with nothing much happening. It doesn’t feel like it should have been a stand alone book but rather could have been an addition to the previous or next book…. I did enjoy it but not as a separate book… compared to all other ones in this series.
Rereading this a second time, still fun and enjoyable…
Packing for my move to Velaris.
