Was a bit surprised it was published in 2015, could've swore I've seen it floating around for longer then that. Most people I have seen reviewing this has loved it but I havnt picked it up it myself until now as I didn't think I would enjoy it. Could almost kick myself over that now! Such a fun and engaging story with a lot going on and wonderful characters. Almost a five stars but not quite, so I'll settle on a 4.5 stars. An very entertaining read for sure

Wow! I was expecting to love this book so much. I didn’t like the original Shadow And Bone Trilogy, but this book was fantastic. I couldn’t stop reading. It also kinda gave me AEITA vibes because of the whole prison break thing! How awesome.

The drama keeps coming and never stops coming. The characters are 3D and have good motivations and mysteries. Solid.

Nina Zenik is my hero. She's everything a woman is told not to be, does everything a woman is told not to do, and she does it all with style.

Honestly, I don't know how many people haven't commented on this. This book had me on the edge of my seat. Leigh Bardugo is an excellent author, I have read the entire Grisha Saga of which this book belongs. This book was an excellent addition to the saga but can be read without the Shadow and Bone trilogy. It had character development, witty banter, enemies to lovers to enemies again, and then back to lovers trope with two of the characters, switching POVs, and massive plot twists that will make you scream "What?!" and make other people give you bizarre looks.

An amazing read with convincing characters, an unusual setting. The book is full of suspense and astonishing turns along the way.
