The Hidden Legacy series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrews continues as Nevada and Rogan navigate a world where magic is the norm…and their relationship burns hot
Nevada Baylor has a unique and secret skill-she knows when people are lying-and she's used that magic (along with plain, hard work) to keep her colorful and close-knit family's detective agency afloat. But her new case pits her against the shadowy forces that almost destroyed the city of Houston once before, bringing Nevada back into contact with Connor "Mad" Rogan.
Rogan is a billionaire Prime-the highest rank of magic user-and as unreadable as ever, despite Nevada's "talent." But there's no hiding the sparks between them. Now that the stakes are even higher, both professionally and personally, and their foes are unimaginably powerful, Rogan and Nevada will find that nothing burns like ice …

so so fun!!!
Perhaps I didn't enjoy it so much because I started on book too. But doubt this series is for me. Not bad though just not my cup of tea

The man was a disease and I couldn't get rid of the infection as it was. I so didn't need another outbreak of Rogan fever.
I don't know how they do it, but Ilona and Gordon have once again exceeded my expectations. After the long wait between book 1-2, I'm thrilled that we
only have a month and half until book 3. But, I'm already devastated knowing it'll be the finale.
She was like spring, warm and full of life and promise. When she was with him he couldn't feel the cold.
Nevada and Connor's story is one of my absolute favorites. And, this writing pair continues to raise the bar in the world of UF storytelling.
It was so good. Definitely punched this series onto my favorites list. Honestly, I think I'm going to read it all over again, because I just wolfed it down, and now I want to savor it a bit. But some quick impressions, before the re-read:
- Nevada and Rogan are so freaking cute. Seriously, every time they are in a scene together, it is delicious.
- The game of House politics is fascinating. And Nevada plays it well - she's learning fast.
The scene where she gets Augustine's bank info was just jaw dropping and amazing.
- I'm suspicious that Lenora is the bad guy. Maybe it is a red herring, but she's pretty perfectly positioned to sweep in as the champion of the city and take over, if things go totally to shit. And we know that the Secret Group of Evil is trying to create chaos (that's not a spoiler, that was their goal in the first book!)!
- I love Nevada's family. Every one of them, and the whole dynamic.
- I want to love Augustine. But I'm not sure I trust him. And he was a shit in the first book.
-
Holy shit, the ferret heist! That was amazing! Bonus points for Rogan and Augustine - two badass Primes who scoffed at the idea - quietly freaking out at the realization that they need to ferret-proof their fortresses.
- I'm fascinated by all the different powers in this world, and can't wait for more detail on Nevada's family ... their lineage, and their powers.
- Nevada and Rogan are so freaking cute! And hot. And this book was pure torment, watching them dance around each other.

WTF with Daniela trying to scare Nevada away? She dragged Rogan an impossible distance, up stairs, while dying herself. How much more does she need to do to prove herself? Also, I can't believe they tased her. Are his people dicks? Are they going to make her jump through hoops? Because that's silly. She has saved Rogan's life a few times now. I get that they love him, but she's proven herself, and even more, she has proven what a good person she is. This smacks of bullshit. I think Daniela Arias likes Rogan broken, unable to form a relationship with anyone but her and their team... she doesn't want him to have anyone else.
- Yay, Cornelius!!
So glad he's sticking around! Even though having your enemy eaten by a swarm of rats is fucking terrifying, he's an awesome guy, and Matilda just couldn't be cuter, so I'm psyched that they won't disappear after this book.
- That ending. Can't wait to see what comes next!
Re-read July 2017
I don't have much to add to the above. Rogan and Nevada are so cute.
I'd kind of like to poke Nevada though, because Rogan has made it pretty fucking clear where he stands - he loves her, and he's said it - while she hasn't said much at all. Why isn't she trying to reassure him a little? Why don't they talk directly about the issue?
It's been a long time since I read the second book in a series just a few days after reading the first. Usually, the break does me good, and I like to read something completely different after finishing a book.
But not this time. This time, shortly after reading the first book in this series, I decided to start the next one. And I did the right thing, because I'm still deeply immersed in this world, and it was a lot of fun to see the adventures of this pair of main characters again while I remember the previous book so well.
I liked Rogan and Nevada in the first book. And I really wanted to know what would happen next. I'm happy with what I found in this book. Though it has definitely whetted my appetite for more and I am eager to read the next book in this series. And that hasn't really happened to me in a while. But Ilona Andrews can write a story so engaging I can't stop reading it.
This book definitely did not disappoint me. Not only were the threads from the previous book continued, which I had hoped for a lot, but the new plot of this book was also really interesting. I had a great time, I couldn't stop reading.
As I mentioned, now I want to read the next book in this series. And I have no doubt that if I don't do it right away, it will be soon.
