"An instant classic…highly recommended!" -New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Jennifer Probst
USA TODAY bestselling indie author Alice Clayton delights readers with the sexy, laugh-out-loud romance of Caroline and Simon in Wallbanger, the first book in the Cocktail series!
The first night after Caroline moves into her fantastic new San Francisco apartment, she realizes she's gaining an-um-intimate knowledge of her new neighbor's nocturnal adventures. Thanks to paper-thin walls and the guy's athletic prowess, she can hear not just his bed banging against the wall but the ecstatic response of what seems (as loud night after loud night goes by) like an endless parade of women. And since Caroline is currently on a self-imposed "dating hiatus," and her neighbor is clearly lethally attractive to women, she finds her fantasies keep her awake even longer than the noise. So when the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts Simon Parker, her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. The tension between them is as thick as the walls are thin, and the results just as mixed. Suddenly, Caroline is finding she may have discovered a whole new definition of neighborly…
In a delicious mix of silly and steamy, Alice Clayton dishes out a hot and hilarious tale of exasperation at first sight.

I'm shocked that I enjoyed this book so damn much but it was hilarious, steamy and with fun characters. I wasn't thrilled over the premise and thought I would dislike the dude but to my surprise, i enjoyed it and had so much fun giggling around and eagerly turning chapters. Made me feel the same way as it did when I first discovered smutty books.
****4.5****
I really loved this. I loved the super slow build from enemies to friends to more than friends. I love that lots of time passed, that we didn't have to roll our eyes and accept that this transition occurred in like 2 weeks. And while I didn't totally understand the Tahoe Incident -
Simon calling a sudden halt seemed weird, given how close they'd come to hooking up before, and just been interrupted ... and I'm still not entirely sure why he did it, except that he seemed to want it to be more than a hook up, and was afraid drunk sex would make it just a hook up. But I don't understand, if that's why he stopped, why he didn't just say that. Like, that would have fixed everything the next morning.
- I loved how they handled the aftermath of it, once I got over the heartbreak.
I was pretty mad at Simon though, after she bent over backwards to try and continue the friendship, and he just more or less disappeared on her - no music, no text, no chatting. It felt really shitty. I have to assume he used that week of distance to come to an understanding of what he really wanted. I wish we'd gotten his POV though, because without it, the week of her being dropped like a hot rock was hard to swallow.
But the resolution was wonderful, and all in all, I just really really enjoyed it.
Totally Bangin’!
I loved this book from start to finish! It is a hot riot! I love them, their friends and her beloved cat!
If you are a cat person, you will relate to no end! Lol!
Instant favorite!
It was so much better than I expected. I thought it would be a chick lit story with some funny moments and a bit of a silly heroine. Something Bridget Jones–like. I'm glad I was totally wrong. This is actually a great, light story with a likable couple and some excellent dialogues.
The characters surprised me in a positive way. Caroline turned out to be much more complex and relatable than I initially thought. She has her quirks, but they make her endearing rather than annoying. Simon is also well-developed, and their interactions together are the highlight of the book. Their chemistry is palpable, and the witty exchanges between them kept me entertained throughout.
The plot may not be groundbreaking, but it serves its purpose in bringing these characters together and giving them a chance to shine. The focus on the couple's relationship and personal growth is a refreshing change from the typical chick lit formula, and I appreciated the author's approach in handling their journey.
The writing style is engaging and easy to read, making it a perfect book for relaxation and escapism. The humor is well-timed, and it rarely feels forced or over the top. It complements the story without overshadowing the emotional moments.
I'm pleasantly surprised by this book, and it has definitely exceeded my expectations. If you're looking for a light and enjoyable read with a interesting couple and witty banter, this is a good choice. It's a nice escape from reality and leaves you with a warm and fuzzy feeling. I'm glad I gave it a chance, and I'll be looking forward to more books by this author.
Fun and funny, perfect romcom. Read it in two languages and was funny in both! (Some translations don't translate humour well, this one did!)
