A bad boy wrapped in a sexy, muscled, grown-up package might be worth a little risk…

No impropriety. No pain. Then she meets Zachary Fox, a tattooed bad boy rocker with a voice like whiskey and sin, and a touch that could become an addiction.
A one-night stand with the hottest rock star on the planet, that's all it was meant to be…

First thought, I'll follow Nalini Singh anywhere she wants to take me. I'm an uberfan of her PNR/UF+R series and knew I'd have to read her new NA CR series as well. That said, I had very mixed feelings about
Rock Addiction.
"Here's to rock stars with voices like sex and bodies like heaven."
The writing: As you'd expect from Nalini. (4★)
The story: A reformed rock star who now knows what he wants paired with a
virginal
, bookish introvert who has been burned by family political controversy and has set strict rules for herself. (2.5★)
The characters: I really liked Fox up until his passionate and controlling personality, which is not unexpected from one of Nalini's heroes, bordered on abusive.
Sure, make-up sex can break barriers and reform bonds. But, I didn't like how sex seemed to be used as a cure-all with these two.
I liked learning bits and pieces about the other members of Fox's band. Similarly, I liked Molly - at least initially. Nalini makes it easy to see how her father's public life/debacles bled onto the family and left scars. Wounds in their past have made them leery, I get that. But, after awhile they came across a bit too needy for me. (3★)
Final Rating: 3★
Honestly, I'm thinking the NA genre just isn't for me. You get all the angst and drama of a YA with all the steam and sex of an Adult novel, which isn't always a recipe for success.
There was foreshadowing for the others in the band, as well as Molly's sister, which has me interested about additional installments in the series. But, then I remember how I struggled with parts of this book and think maybe I should stop here. We'll see. I guess I'll make that decision whenever book 2 hits the shelves.
***3.5***
This was a surprisingly straightforward romance. I think for the last 1/3 I kept waiting on pins and needles for a shoe to drop - the Big Misunderstanding - but there was nothing. Just a sweet story of 2 pretty damaged people trying to make a relationship work in the fishbowl life of celebrity.
Lots of sexy times - honestly, probably like 40% of the book - so I'm addition to my smuttery shelf. But it was well done, and again, all very sweet.
I think I was just a little surprised at the straightforward story, because Singh usually throws a couple curveballs. But I've only read her PNR, so maybe that's not the case in other stuff she writes. *shrug*
Oh, that was really a lot of sex. And I liked it, though, I would prefer it without the bdsm part. Also, as always for Nalini Singh, the characters are likeable. Still, I would like more plot.
