"Kiss of a Demon King" in the series "Immortals After Dark" by Kresley Cole follows the story of Sabine, an immortal sorceress of illusions, who is fated to break the seal of the demon Rydstrom Woede. Sabine has her own plans for the future, aiming to use Rydstrom to get pregnant and take over the throne from her brother. Despite the initial intrigue, some readers found the characters to be one-dimensional and the plot forgettable. The story unfolds in the demon kingdom of Rothkalina, with a fantasy feel to it, described as well-crafted but lacking in interest for some.

The sassy, sorceress Sabine was such a great match for the 'mission and people come first' Demon King, Rydstrom
{3.5 stars ~ Listened to audiobook}
I haven't read a book in this series in a long time, and honestly, I can't remember what happened in the last book. And I have to say that at first I had some trouble getting back to what it was about and who exactly all these characters were. Although I admit that it's also my fault because I didn't focus enough on what was in the first chapter of the book. I pretty sure that was where the author was reminding and explaining what was going on and who the characters are.
What I do remember though is that while it was never my favorite series, I had a lot of fun with it. This time I also had a good time with it, although I guess I expected more. Or maybe I'm just no more used to books where the main couple starts talking about feelings, even if I don't feel them at all and if I think it's way too early. But I've never been a big fan of star-crossed lovers either. And that theme has always been one of the main concepts in this series.
I felt that these characters had a lot of potential that didn't seem to be fully realized, and while I think the author tried to give Sabine and Rydstrom some time to develop their feelings and relationship, I don't think it was enough. Or maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for the story. Which is a real shame because I was really excited when I first started reading it.
Still, I had a pretty good time overall. I will probably come back to this series again.
