A charming story of a librarian living in a busy city who looses her job but discovers her true purpose by uprooting her life, buying a van and moving to a small town in Scotland.
Nina Redmond is a bookworm and librarian whose love of books have take over the apartment she shares with her friend Surrinder. After the library where Nina works closes, she is forced to reevaluate her life and future goals. It is during a team building exercise that Nina verbalized her ultimate dream job of opening a book store. Although her friends think she’s crazy, she decides to step outside her comfort zone, travel to a small town in Scotland and purchases a van to provide people with a a mobile bookmobile.
Through the book, Nina encounters growing pains such as getting use to the slower pace of a small town versus a busy city as well as interacting with her grumpy landlord Lennox. Over time, the town people warm up to Nina due to her gift for suggesting the perfect book for each reader.
While Nina’s business is starting to blossom, she is having a romance with Marek, a local train conductor which is communicated by Nina and Marek leaving each other books on a nearby tree. Eventually, their possible relationship comes to a head with disastrous results.
By the end of the book, Nina has firmly settled into her new life being a mobile librarian for a small town as well as finding herself in a new relationship. Overall, this book was a fun, delightful read which is great for readers and non-readers alike.
