He knows how to score, on and off the ice
Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn't have the first clue about what she's going to do after college. To make matters worse, she's nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won't include the king of one-night stands.
It'll take more than flashy moves to win her over
Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls...he's a ladies man, all right, and he's yet to meet a woman who's immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world-and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It's not over until he says it's over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it's time to stop focusing on scoring...and shoot for love.

Mmmm, 3.5 stars. I enjoyed it, but didn't adore it. And it only lightly gets a sports tag, because that was so background it was almost a non-thing.
Also, it lost a half star and got the downward rounding because of the new coach douchebag. That had no closure, and it was needed. That guy needed to be fired. He was abusing his position of authority to be a bully, and had previously punched a student. He was a monster, and has no business in any kind of teaching position. The fact that there was zero payoff to this plotline made the whole thing feel like needless side-drama, something this series has otherwise avoided. I kept waiting for the other characters to find out this coach was bullying Dean and freak out, or for it to come out that this abusive prick who pretends to be all about the rules punched Dean back in high school... But no. It was infuriating, frankly.
I also felt like the red flags of abuse that Sean was throwing off should have been addressed. Call the spade a spade, please. It's not like you were being subtle about the fact that he was exhibiting some seriously concerning behavior.
Also, her father was an absolute dickhead. Who the fuck does he think he is, to leap to such a horrible judgement about someone he had barely met, and adamantly insist that his impression is right and hers is wrong. Seriously, fuck that guy.
Not as great as The Deal, but way better than The Mistake, in my opinion. The Deal set a really high standard though, and it's still one of my favorite books. I like checking in the with characters though, so getting to know more about Hannah and Garrett by way of Allie and Dean was fun.
