From The Publisher:

A sexy standalone novel from New York Times and international bestselling author Elle Kennedy. THE RISK takes you back to the world of hot hockey players, feisty heroines, bro banter, and steamy scenes...

Everyone says I'm a bad girl. They're only partly right-I don't let fear rule me, and I certainly don't care what people think. But I draw the line at sleeping with the enemy. As the daughter of Briar's head hockey coach, I'd be vilified if I hooked up with a player from a rival team.

And that's who Jake Connelly is. Harvard's star forward is arrogant, annoying, and too attractive for his own good. But fate is cruel-I require his help to secure a much-coveted internship, and the sexy jerk isn't making it easy for me.

I need Connelly to be my fake boyfriend.

For every fake date…he wants a real one.

Which means this bad girl is in big trouble. Nothing good can come from sneaking around with Jake Connelly. My father would kill me, my friends will revolt, and my post-college career is on the line. But while it's getting harder and harder to resist Jake's oozing sex appeal and cocky grin, I refuse to fall for him.

That's the one risk I'm not willing to take. more

I enjoyed this, but why were there SO MANY characters that seemed like they were out to ruin this relationship either intentionally or unintentionally

Bee & Jakey make my heart whole - the unwavering trust between the two, the shared secrets, wanting nothing more than to make things work despite having people in their ear saying otherwise.

EK does such an amazing job giving all of the characters different stories and difficulties - none of the books are identical and I am loving this series!!

This is another book by this author that I have read recently and I regret that I discovered her so late. I really enjoy her books, but I think I would have enjoyed them even more when I was younger and was looking for exactly these kinds of stories. Of course, now I have a lot of fun with them too.

Elle Kennedy, especially in this series and its twin Off-Campus, guarantee a really good story. This author convinced me that new adult could be for me and that I could really enjoy these books. She can write really well-developed emotional characters who are caught up in situations that don't resemble typical cheap college dramas.

That's what we find here. The characters are well developed and behave like real adults. Yes, they make mistakes, but they are not annoying and fit well with the personalities and goals of each character. The characters are really believable. And at the same time, it's really impossible not to like them. I also had no problems believing in the relationship between the main characters. In my opinion, this is the best recipe for a good new adult romance.

Another good thing about this series is that it can be read out of order, without knowing the previous books in the series. I myself had read the previous book, so I knew the characters, but it's not really necessary. You can easily start with this story. I will definitely read the next books in this series, and other books by this author. It's become my go-to when I'm looking for a really good story.
