Who Would Like This Book:
Ritualist delivers on the LitRPG promise with a clever twist: the protagonist, Joe, is an underdog - a military vet and paraplegic in the real world - who gets a rare shot at a new life inside a fully immersive game. The story shines with in-depth worldbuilding, unique game mechanics, witty humor, and a strong focus on problem-solving over brute force. If you love creative magic systems, offbeat classes (Ritualist isn’t your typical fireball chucker), and watching someone outsmart the system instead of just overpowering it, you’ll have a blast. Fans of fresh takes on ‘game world’ adventures who enjoy stat-based progression and puns will feel right at home.
Who May Not Like This Book:
On the flip side, some readers just can’t vibe with the heavy use of game logic and stats - if you prefer your fantasy without level-ups and pop-up screens, this might not be for you. The book’s quirky humor (lots of dad jokes and puns), the slow-burn start, and the occasionally info-dumpy stat explanations can feel overwhelming or tedious. A few found the opening chapters (especially a Musk-centric intro) cringey enough to almost DNF, and others feel later books in the series lose focus or change tone. If you’re not into stat management, long expositions about skills, or VR settings, this one can feel too much like reading a video game manual.

From The Publisher:
The decision to start a new life is never an easy one, but for Joe the transition was far from figurative. Becoming a permanent addition to a game world, it doesn't take long to learn that people with his abilities are actively hunted. In fact, if the wrong people gained knowledge of what he was capable of, assassins would appear in droves. In his pursuit of power, Joe fights alongside his team, completes quests, and delves into the mysteries of his class, which he quickly discovers can only be practiced in secret. Ultimately, his goal is to complete every mission, master every ability, and learn all of the world's secrets. All he has to do is survive long enough to make that happen.

Started off really well, but after the first few books the main character just got too annoying. This series became all about puns and wacky characters, and I couldn't really bring myself to care about it anymore.
Fun litrpg series
