We're reaching the point where I can no longer tell if contemporary romances began as fanfiction; the tropes are all there here, but I'd also believe it wasn't.

Anyway, this was pretty stupid, but I am kind of a sucker for guy-POV romances and some of the narrative techniques were a little clever. The heroine is way too good for this guy, though.

Sometimes the love interest discribed like Drew turns out the be a kinda loveable character but I didn't find him compelling one bit and didn't care about the romance

In

Tangled, we meet Drew. He's quick to tell you that if you think he's arrogant, selfish, and spoiled you are absolutely correct -

"It's not my fault. I am a product of how I was raised." He's also a hard worker and quite the player. He does have rules though. And, screwing around with a coworker is something he's sworn to never ever do. When he realizes that Kate Brooks, the beautiful girl who brushed him off at the bar on Saturday, is the newest associate at his father's firm his willpower to stick by this rule gets put to the test.

She's like a Rubik's Cube. So frustrating at times that you want to toss it out the goddamn window. But you don't. You can't. You're compelled to keep playing with it until you figure it out.

But, Drew is nothing if not confident in his abilities.

I am all about self-determination. Will. Control. I determine my path in life. I decide my failures and successes. Screw fate. Destiny can kiss my ass. If I want something badly enough, I can have it. If I focus, sacrifice, there is nothing I can't do.

In a nutshell: I control my dick. My dick does not control me.

No matter how badly I want to, no matter how hard the little head is trying to lead me down that road, it's not the kind of thing I want to bring into my place of business. My sanctuary - my second home.

It's not going to happen. Period.

That's it. End of discussion.

Case closed.

Kate Brooks is officially scratched off my list of potentials. She is forbidden, untouchable, a no-way-ever. Right next to my friends' ex-girlfriends, the boss's daughter, and my sister's best friends.

Mind over matter? Normally, I'd bet Drew's able to stick to his guns and resist temptation. After all, he can have any girl he wants, right? But, Kate's different. Kate proves to be more than just a passing fancy. So, it will come as no surprise to learn that when we first meet Drew, he's a complete mess. He's convinced himself that he's suffering from the flu, which has absolutely nothing to do with Kate and could not be further from the truth.

I loved that the story was told from Drew's POV. He's a hoot. He's more vulnerable than he'd care to admit and sexy as hell. Yes, he's arrogant, selfish, and spoiled, just as you thought. But, he's not afraid to admit it. And, for some odd reason, you don't hate him for it. Kate is a perfect match for this man who believes he has women pegged - nothing new to learn here - been there, tapped that. But, in the end,

As he tells his story, Drew learns the one thing he never wanted in life, is the only thing he can’t live without.

This was awful.

Tried to give it a chance, even though I disliked it immediately, but couldn't go on after the Mohammed Ali comment.

Had to give this a 1 star even though I didn't finish the book.
