From The Publisher:
An inn is a place to rest, a place to talk and share stories, a place to find adventure, or a starting ground for quests and legends.
It is in this world, at least. To Erin Solstice, an inn seems like a medieval relic from the past. But here she is, running from Goblins and trying to survive in a world full of monsters and magic. She'd be more excited about all of this if everything wasn't trying to kill her. But an inn is what she's found, and so that's what she becomes; an innkeeper, who serves drinks to heroes and monsters.
Actually, mostly monsters. But it's a living, right?

Slow start, ill probably give it another try in the future
I have been suffering from a reading slump for almost a month, which is entirely unacceptable. I've picked up and tried to read scores of books, none interesting me enough to continue past the first handful of chapters. Until I found The Wandering Inn, that is. Something about the form and pace of this story completely engaged me and pulled me from the depths of my slump.
The Wandering Inn is an online serial novel written by Pirateaba. I'd never read a serial before starting this one, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect going in. I just knew that I need something to jolt my system, and this seemed interesting. I could not be happier to be right.
I've seen some complaints about the level of writing, which, while I can understand to an extent, I don't share. Yes, this story does not feature Sanderson or Rothfuss-level writing skills, but the lack of polish only factors in the first few chapters, in my opinion. What this story does feature is a world that feels fresh and adventurous, and characters that are developed and engaging. They aren't perfect, but humans aren't.
Despite any mistakes this story makes, it is genuinely fascinating to me. There is something fresh about the writing style and format that engages my mind in exactly the way I need right now. I've flown through the first volume and have already started on the second. I can't wait to see how this story and these characters develop!
Time to celebrate! I've finally finished the second installment of The Wandering Inn, and so far, it has lived up to my expectations!
Eric is my favorite character, but I find the development of every character in this story to be fascinating and full of depth. Each POV adds a different flavor to the story and, while I may still prefer Erin's POV above all others, I'm never unhappy to discover a new view of the world through someone else.
One thing I've realized about this story is that I can't approach it in my usual manner. This tale is a marathon, not a sprint, and as such, my reading habit of reading a book over 1-3 days doesn't work. I tried doing that and started getting burnt out around the third quarter. So, going forward, I'm going to take my time and read different books in between The Wandering Inn. I want to see where this story goes, and that's the only way I can see it happening.
In conclusion, I HIGHLY recommend this and the first installment if you're looking for a not-so-typical fantasy story that follows genuinely sympathetic and well-developed characters.
Well folks, we made it. Almost 2,000 "pages" and innumerable POVs later, I've successfully completed the third Wandering Inn novel.
I'm not going to lie; this one was a lot harder to get through compared to the previous two. There were some large chunks that had me struggling to keep interested (I'm looking at you, King of Destruction chapters, and you, Wistram Academy chapters) and I honestly contemplated dropping the whole thing a several points. I'm glad I persevered though, because as rambling and messy as this story can tend to be, these characters have grown dear to me, and to be quite honest, I MUST know how this series will end.
I pray I have an easier time getting through the fourth volume, but regardless of ease I'm pretty confident I'll continue on with this journey.
A huge fan of the series and I can confidently say this is the best book in the entire series. So much good development in characters and scenarios, I could not put this book down until I was done. Whatever the author did during this era of her writing is something I highly suggest repeating when writing future books.
