This books demands some patience from the reader but I liked it because:
1. I like Berserk manga/anime
2. I like dragons
It had a few boring moments, but the worldbuilding is incredible. You have to read a few more parts to see the full picture and understand why Dune should not have been changed by humans
I enoyed the writing style and descriptions, and the characters felt too relatable here. I also liked the multiple POVs, they helped me understand this book.
Even though the Star Wars movies are usually family friendly, this book show the dark side of war (literally). Here we can see the war from the perspective of common soldiers, who don't have any special force. They just have each other and their own skills.
The book shows that war isn't a fun thing - it exhausting, dangerous and dirty. The ordinary soldiers have more in common with a typical "cannon fodder" instead of "glorious heroes"
That was the 1st book from Warhammer Universe I've ever read, and it felt like a breath of fresh air after spending way too much time with the new Star Wars seuqels. It was gritty, realistic and straightforward.
